New Baby

Odds are if you are reading this then you have a new baby on the way. So first of all and foremost. Congratulations! This is an exciting time for you and your family. This could be your first baby or your tenth but the feeling is always the same. There are a lot of things that you need to prepare for before the new one comes home with you. You need to make sure you have the proper medical insurance in place and doctors picked out. However, one of the more important things you need to do is make sure that your house is a safe place for your child. If you need an idea how child proof your home is then invite one of your friends with a toddler and you will quickly find out within a hour how much preparation you need to do for your home. Hopefully with this list you will get an idea of what to do in your home to make it safe.

Your baby depends on you for safety…

Cover Your Outlets

This one is probably the easiest one you can do to prepare your home for toddlers. You will be amazed how quick your babies will be up and moving around. The last thing you will want is them sticking something in a outlet.

Safety Lock Your Cabinets

You will want to buy some child locks for the cabinets in your kitchens and bathrooms. These can be the simple ones where you push the plastic lock on the inside and you can open the drawer. Or you might need to get more complex ones depending on how fast your kids figure out the locks.

Secure Your Windows

You will want to make sure that your windows are lock and secure so no one can sneak into your home.  If any window or door is open from the outside it will set an alarm and alert your phone or tablet. A lot of new families are looking into this so they can sleep with ease.

Entertainment Center

This might be a hard thing to figure out but if you have a bunch of things hanging under your TV it looks like a play land to your children. If you have your blu ray players, xbox and controllers you need to find a new place for these to go unless you want them all to be broken in the first year of having a kid.
